Using apps to purchase products is nothing new these days. With a few clicks on your smartphone screen, you can have everything from computers to toilet paper to groceries delivered quickly and without human interaction. At this point, Amazon has become the go-to app for almost all purchasing. But while Amazon sells a bit of everything, some apps have decided to go with a more focused approach. Case-in-point: Shop Hush.

It seems that everywhere you look, there's a new grocery delivery service popping up. And with Amazon's recent purchase of Whole Foods, it seems that the trend is unlikely to stop. One of the first onto the scene was Hello Fresh. The company bills itself as a "Weeknight Dinner Solution." It provides a series of recipes, from which customers choose 3-4. A week later, the ingredients and recipes are delivered to the customer's door, ready to cook and enjoy. It's a great concept, and one that has driven the company into the public spotlight and encouraged them to expand their offerings into wine and general organic packaged items. In fact, the company delivers 4 million meals each month, and while stock prices are dropping for the company, capital infusions and new customers keep coming. However, there are several hurdles for the company. Many of these issues arose for me when I received my box of groceries. And with that said, what follows is my honest (and long) review of the box that I received, the level of customer service that I observed, and observations on ways that the company can improve. It’s summer, and summer is the season of travel. As people gear up for camping trips, exotic vacations, and everything in between, now is not the time to stay at home, moping about where you can’t go. Asian skincare is a growing trend around the world. Online companies as well as brick and mortar stores continue to pop-up, selling Korean, Japanese, and Taiwanese products globally. What makes Asian skincare special? A focus on hard-hitting ingredients and a customizable approach to skin. There is no one-size-fits-all approach for your skin, and Korean skincare especially uses a number of single, powerful solutions rather than one mediocre one. In our previous post on Korean Beauty, we discussed Vitamin C, the wonderful brightener that can help even your skin tone and reduce the appearance of scars and post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation. This month, we’re talking about snail filtrate! Yes, snails. The slippery, slimy creatures you find in your garden or (in certain restaurants) on your plate. But wait, before you run away screaming, let’s discuss the power of snail slime. Originally published in Modest Truth Magazine, May 27, 2017.

The best camera is the one that you have with you. And while phone camera technology is improving at an incredibly fast rate, there are some other ways to step up your picture game. Below, find some apps that will help you get the photos you want to share with the world. Ever since I can remember, I've had terrible vision. Astigmatism that I eventually grew out of, horrible distance vision, strangely shaped contacts. I've been wearing some form of corrective eye wear since I was 8. For those keeping track at home, that's 18 years of living with glasses and contacts.
I knew when I came to Korea that I would be faced with the best opportunity to get laser correction for my eyes. I knew it would be cheap, efficient, and easy. So I started my research after a year of living here, looking for the best options that also spoke English. After a couple months of looking around online, reading reviews, and looking at picture after picture after picture, I decided on Dream Eye Center in Gangnam. And let me tell you, I'm so glad I did. What follows is a review of the first part of my LASEK surgery: the consultation. When I was originally searching for a face oil, I was a little hesitant. Moist oils are...well...oily. But after a few recommendations for Banila Co's Miss Flower and Mr. Honey Essence Oil, I decided to take the plunge. And although the price is a little steep, I'm really glad I did.
What follows is a review of my (current) holy grail level face oil. Beauty blogging is something I have been doing for several years. When I first moved to Korea, I put it to the side to focus on work and settling in. Now that I feel more comfortable in the ROK, I'm going to pick back up my beauty and skincare blogging.
For my first post in quite a while, I would like to focus on a product that has absolutely reversed the dry spots on my face. It's a product with an interesting ingredients list that has moisturized my thirsty skin like nothing else. Without further ado, click below to read more on Moksha Bidan Cream. |
